Trade to Teach Internship Program

We are excited to announce that the Department of Education will again partner with the ÌÔÆ¬×ÊÔ´Íø to deliver the Trade to Teach program in 2026.

Who can apply for Trade to Teach?

You can apply for the Trade to Teach program if you have:

  • a trade qualification (Certificate III or higher) and at least three years industry experience, post apprenticeship (e.g. Fitting and Turning/Machining, Metals Engineering, Carpentry, Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanics or related areas); or
  • a trade qualification achieved through apprenticeship (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher) and at least three years industry experience, post-apprenticeship; or
  • a related qualification (e.g. Cert III Hospitality or higher, Cert III Apparel, Fashion and Textiles or higher) and at least three years industry experience, post-qualification.

What does the Trade to Teach Program involve?

This supported four-year pathway helps skilled and industry-experienced tradespeople and chefs transition to a rewarding career in teaching. The program offers successful participants a $20,000 scholarship, a paid internship teaching position while studying, and a guaranteed permanent teaching position upon completion.
