Greenwood-Tomkys Scholarship in Midwifery

In Trimester 2 2026, ÌÔÆ¬×ÊÔ´Íø will offer four Greenwood-Tomkys Scholarship in Midwifery to support students who commenced their studies in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery in Trimester 1 2026.

The Greenwood-Tomkys Fund was established through the Estate of the late Betty Greenwood and in conjunction with her sister, the late Valery Tomkys. Betty and Valery together with their sister Lesley are the daughters of Jack and Mary Tomkys and were long term Toowoomba residents who also had farming interests at Murphy’s Creek. The fund was created in memory of the Tomkys family and Betty’s husband Jim. 

The principal purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships, bursaries and other educational assistance for students of nursing and other allied health professions and disciplines. Assistance is provided to students in financial need to undertake their studies.

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $8000 to be paid in two instalments. 

To be eligible for this midwifery scholarship, applicants must:

  • be a currently residing in Australia
  • have commenced their studies at ÌÔÆ¬×ÊÔ´Íø in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery in Trimester 1 2026
  • be enrolled full-time as per the Standard (1 Year) Recommended Enrolment Pattern.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • describe the experiences or influences which have driven your passion for your chosen field of study
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional 
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
    • high school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results)
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

*Preference will be given to applicants who meet the financial need threshold.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other ÌÔÆ¬×ÊÔ´Íø awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
