World Soil Day Competition
Entries must highlight the importance of soil health to managing for drought and climatic extremes and either showcase one or more practices being implemented that are improving soil health, or describe a soil related problem that is limiting potential.

For your chance to win one of the three (3) prizes on offer, you need to:
- be primary producer, Landcare group, First Nations group or high school agriculture class who owns, manages, or cares for agricultural or grazing land in the southern half of Queensland or northern half of NSW, and who is
- willing for images, video or text entered into the competition to be used by the SQNNSW Innovation Hub to promote practices that contribute to improved soil health and managing drought and other climatic extremes.
To enter, you need to create a public social media post (on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or X) or send an email to sqnnswhub@unisq.edu.au between 5 November - 4 December 2025 that:
- provides information detailing name, location, and type of enterprise
- highlights the importance of soil health to managing for drought and climatic extremes, and either showcases one or more examples of practices to improve soil health, or describes a soil related problem that is limiting potential
- includes the location of the property.
Your free entry can include text (maximum 400 words), images (maximum of four images) or video (maximum 60 seconds in length). And remember, if you are entering via social media, you need to:
- tag the Southern Queensland and Northern NSW Innovation Hub (@sqnnswhub on X/Twitter, @SQNNSWHub on Facebook, @sqnnswhub on Instagram, or @sqnnswinnovationhub on LinkedIn)
- include the hash tag #soil and
- ensure social media post is publicly viewable.
The three prizes, valued at $5,000 per winning entry, includes a site visit from the Hub’s Regional Soil Coordinator (and Registered Soil Practitioner) Cameron Leckie, collection of soil samples for comprehensive laboratory analysis, and a written soil condition report. Other expertise, where it exists within the SQNNSW Innovation Hub, may also be provided. Entries can be made either via a social media post or email to sqnnswhub@unisq.edu.au
The competition opens 9am on 5 November 2025 and closes at 11.59pm on 4 December 2025.
